Jonathan Gallegos

Jonathan Gallegos transforms his performative artistry into empowering storytelling. A performer, educator, and musician, the Boston-based artist is fostering an enthusiasm for the vocal arts and multidimensional performance that break down our preconceived boundaries of the theatrical industries.

His love of music began at a young age. Finding support from his grade school music teacher, he not only discovered a strong foundational education in vocal studies but an inspiration to embrace his own unique cultural identity as a Latino-Native American and share these feelings of empowerment with others. Pursuing his fascination with music, he received a bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance from New Mexico State University in 2010. He went on to study at the renowned Boston Conservatory at Berklee where he obtained his Master of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre Vocal Pedagogy in 2022, combining his passion for health services and music in a study of singing as a catalyst for respiratory treatments in conditions such as Asthma.

For Gallegos, the musical and performing arts are a space of acceptance. He has translated his skills and experience into a life as an educator, fostering an environment for artistic creations that favors acceptance, diversity, and inclusion. In opening new dialogues, he hopes artists can embrace their backgrounds, their cultures, and their journeys to collectively uplift our society. Today, he is an advocate for helping students achieve their dreams and find success through authentic experiences and expressions of art. From this pedagogy, he has been providing youth with instruction in Voice and the Sting Bass through his own Jonathan Gallegos Studio for over two decades. He has also been an educator in Musical Direction and instructor of technical skills with the Albuquerque Little Theatre’s Summer Intensive program, New Mexico Enchantment Awards, Boston Conservatory at Berklee, the University of New Mexico, and is currently a Teaching Fellow for Harvard University.

Beyond his acumen as an educator, Gallegos has an extensive performance catalog in his own right. He has performed as an actor with prestigious institutions including the American Repertory Theater, North Stage Toronto, Speakeasy Stage, Boston Conservatory at Berklee, Musical Theatre Southwest, Speakeasy Stages, Moonbox Productions, Mother Road Theatre Company, Landmark Musicals, and the Albuquerque Little Theatre. His musical talents have also been demonstrated as a member of the Las Cruces Symphony Orchestra, El Paso Symphony Orchestra, and Doña Ana Lyric Opera.
