Anna Jean Simmons
Anna Jean Simmons is a classically trained soprano and dedicated educator whose work spans opera, musical theatre, and contemporary commercial music. Through her versatile performances and compassionate teaching, she fosters expressive, inclusive spaces for storytelling through voice.
A lifelong musician with a love of language and performance, Simmons holds a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance and French from the University of Dayton and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the Longy School of Music. Her wide-ranging repertoire includes operatic and theatrical roles such as Le Prince Charmant in Cendrillon, the Pilot in Rachel Portman’s The Little Prince, Elsa Schraeder in The Sound of Music, and Uzo in Godspell. Her musical sensibilities are equally at home in classical, folk, and country genres, reflecting a fluid approach to storytelling and sound.
Simmons’s foundation as a performer is matched by her commitment to vocal education. Having taught students across all experience levels in her private studio, she focuses on building vocal freedom, clarity, and a strong sense of personal identity in each student’s sound. She is passionate about helping singers connect to their voices not only technically, but expressively — guiding them toward performances that feel grounded, empowered, and true to who they are.
In addition to her work on stage and in the studio, Simmons has premiered two original micro-operas as a librettist in which she also performed, and is currently developing two full-length libretti set to premiere in 2026. Whether performing, writing, or teaching, her work is driven by a deep belief in the power of voice to inspire connection, reflection, and meaningful artistic expression.
