Can anyone learn to sing?
Absolutely everyone can improve at singing! Just like being an athlete, learning to sing is a seamless combination of your natural talent, personality, practice habits, and the technique that you learn. The level that you reach depends on all of those things. Most people underestimate their natural talents!
How long before I see results?
Most students will start to notice a serious change in their singing after about six months. Some students have made noticeable improvements even by their second lesson if a significant adjustment was identified and corrected. Lessons are a long term process: keep in mind that Amy has been training seriously for 18 years and is still improving her technique!
CAN I INCREASE MY RANGE?
Absolutely. Many singers struggle to get past their "bridge" and assume all notes beyond it are out of their range. By balancing registers, a singer can drastically increase their range.
CAN I SING ANY STYLE?
One of the signs of a gifted singer is versatility. All students are encouraged to explore a variety of genres!
Can you fix my "break"?
Moving from low to high notes seamlessly can be very challenging for singers. You will learn to blend registers seamlessly to remove cracks and breaks, as well as remove unwanted "airiness" from the upper register.
Do you teach students under 13?
Yes! Students under 13 have specialized lessons which are focused on breath fundamentals, tension release, musicianship, and interpretation. More specific technical concepts and resonance work are reserved for teenagers and adults. Young students are encouraged to take 30 minute lessons.
DO YOU OFFER GIFT CERTIFICATES?
Yes!
Do you offer remote lessons?
Remote lessons are an amazing resource and work very well for voice and piano lessons! These kinds of lessons have a slightly different format and are a great option if location or schedule is complicated for you. Best for touring musicians, long commuters, or anyone traveling long term.
