Justine Boonstra
Justine Boonstra is a Boston-based singer, teacher, and performing arts advocate with her Master’s of Music in Vocal Performance at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, MA. She also holds a Bachelor’s of Music in Music Education from Gordon College and is a Certified Teacher in Massachusetts.
During her graduate studies, Justine had many performance opportunities including playing the role of The Sandman in Hansel and Gretel, 2nd Spirit in Die Zauberflöte and a variety of other roles in NEC's scenes program. Justine also had the opportunity to cover the role of Despina from Così fan tutte with Chicago Summer Opera in the Summer of 2022.
Though she has extensive experience with classical music, Justine considers herself a crossover singer, as she loves to sing in many genres including musical theater, pop, and R&B. Her most recent musical theater role was Madeleine Astor in Titanic: The Musical.
Justine has more than 5 years of teaching experience, teaching both private voice and piano students as well as teaching in public schools. She also taught voice class for non-majors at New England Conservatory. Justine’s greatest joy in teaching is building relationships with students and fostering an environment of safety, joy and creativity to explore their own voice and artistic expression. Justine loves to help students in identifying and attaining their musical aspirations and journey alongside them as they learn to play their own instrument—their voice!
While helping students develop a healthy, tension-free vocal technique, Justine hopes that each student will also find a lifelong love for music and artistic expression.
